The 5S System: Our Foundation
We follow the proven 5S organizational methodology, aligned with OSHA recommendations and Lean workplace standards. This systematic approach transforms our warehouse into a model of efficiency and safety.
Sort
Remove unnecessary items. Keep only operational equipment, cords, and tools in designated storage zones. Discard broken or obsolete items immediately.
Set in Order
Arrange tools and materials for easy access. Each shelf is organized by equipment type with clear labeling. Heavier items stored low, lighter items higher.
Shine
Clean workspace and tools regularly. Sweep daily, wipe down machines weekly, and keep aisles clear. Mop as needed to maintain pristine conditions.
Standardize
Create consistent practices. Reference photos serve as visual benchmarks. Use checklists for weekly organization reviews to ensure compliance.
Sustain
Maintain discipline. Random spot checks by management and monthly warehouse audits. Rewards for spotless weeks encourage continuous excellence.

OSHA Safety Standards
General Warehouse Safety Requirements
Aisle Clearance
Aisles must remain clear with 36" minimum clearance at all times. Keep pathways free of cords, hoses, and equipment. Remove liquid spills immediately to prevent slips and falls.
Fire Safety
Never block fire exits or extinguishers. Keep ladders and tall shelving at least 18 inches from sprinklers. Electrical panels must have 36" clearance in front for emergency access.
Safe Stacking & Storage
Stack equipment safely—heavier units like dehumidifiers and HEPA filters on lower shelves. Use secure shelving that can handle the load. Inspect regularly for rust or loosened bolts.
Ladder & Ventilation
Keep ladders secured upright in designated areas. Inspect before each use—never climb on shelving. Store equipment to avoid blocking vents or creating stagnant zones that trap humidity.

The Golden Rules
If you take it out, you put it back
Every piece of equipment has a designated home. Return items to their exact location immediately after use to maintain organization and ensure the next person can find what they need.
If it's dirty, clean it before storing
Never store dirty or contaminated equipment. Wipe down all surfaces, clean filters, and ensure items are dry before returning them to their designated storage location.
If it's broken, tag it and report immediately
Safety first. Never return damaged equipment to storage without proper tagging. Report issues immediately to your supervisor to prevent safety hazards and equipment misuse.
No personal storage—this isn't your garage
The warehouse is for company equipment only. Personal items create clutter, violate safety standards, and take up valuable operational space.
Leave it better than you found it
Take pride in our workspace. If you notice something out of place or an area that needs attention, take two minutes to improve it. We all share responsibility for excellence.

Accountability & Audits
Daily Responsibility
Each technician is responsible for returning all equipment daily in clean, organized condition to designated storage locations.
Weekly Sign-Off
Lead techs sign off on a Warehouse Reset Checklist at end of week, confirming all standards have been met and maintained.
Biweekly Audits
Warehouse audits performed biweekly by Operations Manager (Josh) or designated lead to ensure ongoing compliance and address issues promptly.
Disciplinary Process
Failure to maintain warehouse standards results in progressive discipline: verbal warning (first instance), written warning (second instance), suspension or loss of on-call bonus eligibility (third instance). We take these standards seriously because safety depends on them.
